For most of her life, Gina never gave a second thought to her vision. With 20/20 eyesight, she was known as the sibling with “the good eyes” in a family where everyone wore glasses, and both of her brothers chose to have refractive eye surgery in their twenties.

Lindsey’s life has been shaped by vision loss from an early age, later identified as LCA5, a rare inherited retinal condition. Growing up, she often struggled to understand why she was different, navigating everyday situations with limited sight while trying to fit in. Simple tasks required extra effort, and the uncertainty surrounding her condition made it difficult for her to fully grasp what her future might hold.
